In this passage we encounter a lame man who had been lame since birth. His life was consumed with begging in order to be able to survive. He was dependent on others to even help him accomplish that. It seemed as though this man was cursed by God but in all reality God had prepared this man in his infirmity for just this moment. God's purpose and His power were revealed when the lame man was able to walk.
I. God has a purpose even in our pain. vs 1-3
a. Everyday obedience leads us to fulfill our purpose. vs. 1
b. God provides for His purpose in the midst of our pain. vs 2
c. When we don't understand our purpose we ask for the wrong things. vs 3
II. God's purpose is revealed when His power is present. vs 4-8
a. God's power is often unexpected. vs 4-5
b. God's power can heal what is broken vs 6-7
c. God's glory is the purpose we all share. vs 8
III. When God's power meets His purpose amazing things happen. vs 8-11
