For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son is the verse that we so often quote.  However, we often forget that prior to the coming of Jesus the Lord loved the world enough to send countless prophets.  The Old Testament prophets were often ignored, terrible mistreated, and even killed by foolish men.  John the Baptist was the last in the line of the O.T. prophets and we see that he fairs no better at the hands of a foolish man Herod and his faithles wife Herodias.

I. A foolish man is often interested in but not committed to the Lord. vs 14-15 

II. A Foolish Man doesn't obey the Lord. vs 16-20

     a. He is unwilling to repent. 

     b. He is unwilling to love and lead his wife. 

     c. He is unsure of his spiritual condition. 

     d. Even a fool can fear the Lord's wrath. 

III. A foolish man's actions will eventually catch up to him. vs 21-29

     a. A foolish man care more about man than God. 

     b. A foolish man is obsessed with pleasure. 

     c. A foolish man speaks dangerous words.

     d. A foolish man suffers the consequences of not leading well. 

     e. A foolish man causes grief for those around them.
