Developing faith can be a challenging thing. The Lord was developing the disciples faith every day as they witnessed His work. However, He was also developing the faith of those around them through His miracles and teaching. Here Jesus is confronted with a demon posessed boy and a desperate Father who is struggling to believe. Jesus doesn't abandon them because their faith is lacking but rather He meets them where they are and reminds them of who He truly is.
