Jesus divinity had just been on full display as He calmed the storm and the boat was able to proceed to the other side of the lake.  Upon arrival to the other shore Jesus encounters a new challenge from an old enemy.  The Gadarene demoniac was not possessed by one demon but many. Jesus would demonstrate to the world that His power is greater than any challenge the enemy could muster.  He would set this man free from the firm grip of the enemy and the destructive power of Satan. 

I.   The presence of the Demonic is obvious. vs 1-7

     a.He was more comfortable with the dead than the living.

     b. His need was greater than human intervention. 

     c. His torment was constant. 

     d. He was shamed by the enemy. 

     e. He was prone to self harm. 

     f. He was immediately subjugated to Jesus. 

II.  Jesus power to deliver us from evil is limitless. vs 8-16

     a. Jesus power is greater than all of the enemy. 

     b. The destructive power that Jesus defeated was on full display. 

     c. Jesus power to set free is complete. 

     d. The power of Jesus isn't always appreciated.  

III. God's power isn't always welcome. vs 17-20 

     a. Being set free by Jesus means we are faithful to Him. 

     b. We are set free to be set on lampstand. 

     c. The power of Jesus on display in our lives can help others be set free.  

     d. When we don't know the love of Jesus the power of Jesus can be confusing.
