We can all probably quote John 3:16?  The contents of that famous verse reminds us of two things.  First of all it reminds us of God's love for us.  God did not just abandon us to our sin and eternal consequences of that sin rather He made a way of redemption through His son Jesus.  The Second thing we are reminded of in this verse is the cost of God's compassion and love for His people.  His desire to rescue us meant that Christ had to take our place.  We exchanged sin and death for His righteousness and eternal life.  However we must never forget that His Compassion was paid for in blood.  He hung on the cross that we all deserved while we are able to go free.
