The Beginning of the Gospel
Mark 1:1-13
Intro: Can you remember the first day that the winter chill finally broke and the sun started to warm things up again? It's those days in very late winter and early spring that give us hope that better days are on the way. We look forward to the warm days of summer and all the activities that go with it. However, that first warm day is often followed by lots of cold and rainy days before summer finally dawns. For the people of Israel they had been living with the hope of the prophetic voice from the old testaement that the Savior would come. There had been some exciting days along the way but they had endured years of silence and darkness waiting for the Gospel to take root. Here in Mark 1 the good news which shall be to all people begins and the eternal light of the Son of God begins to shine in the world for all to see.
